Battalion offers many teams and provides
an opportunity for
cadets to choose activities of their choice. These
teams are open to
all students enrolled in JCC at J.P. Elder. In addition,
students gain an
opportunity to meet new people, make new friends,
and visit with
students from other schools during competitions and
while

Exhibition Rifle Drill Team consists of a commander, with a
platoon of a minimum of
twelve and a maximum of fifteen cadets.
This team is only limited
by the ingenuity of its members. They
develop their own routine
and drill movements. They execute
precision drill using
replica Mark 1 military drill rifles. The routine
includes advanced rifle
spinning while executing change
of formations, and ripple
effects. This is for the cadets who has
mastered regulation rifle
drill and is prepared to commit additional
The
Lady Leathernecks Unarmed Drill Team
consists of twelve
members and a commander.
Their additional responsibilities are
to assist the color guard
commander in the folding and maintaining
of the colors for J.P.
Elder in accordance with procedures set forth by
military drill patriotic
traditions, and The US Flag Code. The Flag Detail
also performs the
ceremonial duties for the Patriots Day Ceremony,
Veterans Day, and the
display of the flag at half-staff when directed by

The
Color Guard: Female and Male teams are
unique. Known as the
keeper of the flag; they
are responsible for morning and evening colors
(the daily raising and
lowing of our national colors). The
color guard
commander carries the
National Colors and the assistant commander
is the bearer of the State
and the Marine Corps Flags. A left and right
Guard completes the color
guard that carries the Military replica
Mark 1 Drill Rifles. It is
the duty of the color guard to familiarize
themselves with the Rules
Governing the color guard and flag etiquette
pertaining to our National
colors. The Color Guard performs opening
ceremonies for School
sporting events, community organizations,
musical activities, honor
organizations, and they participate in local
parades. It is a privilege
to be selected as a member of the color guard,
as they represent the
pride, professionalism of the Junior Cadet Corps
Academic
Challenge: A
four member Male and Female teams compete in a jeopardy style
game.
Physical
Fitness four member Male and Female teams compete is
pushups, sit –ups and a 100 meter dash.
Competition All teams Compete in the annual FWISD JCC
Drill Meet in the fall and spring. They also compete in other Invitational Drill
Meets throughout
Practice is conducted after school Monday through
Friday 4:30 to 6:00 pm and on some Saturdays from 12:00 to 2:00 pm when the
C.O.C feels necessary.
"Drill provides a means
through ceremonies of enhancing morale,
developing the spirit of
cohesion, and presenting traditional, interesting
and well executed parades.
The objectives accomplished by drill are
teamwork, confidence,
discipline, alertness, attention to detail,
Esprit de Corps, and Pride.
